Much-loved father, uncle and brother who died in Chorley crash named in tributes

The family of a man who died in a collision in Chorley have paid tribute to him.

Scott Ashton, 52, died after the Kawasaki ZX 600 he was riding, travelling north from the town centre on Park Road, lost control on a right-hand bend close to the entrance with Astley Park.

His family said: “The Ashton family would like to confirm the passing of Mr. Scott Ashton in the early hours of Tuesday 15th April surrounded by his family.

“Scott was a much-loved Father, Brother and Uncle and was also a good friend to many. Scott had a big heart and was always happy to help anyone. We are devastated by this sad loss and will miss him deeply.

“We would like to thank everyone who witnessed the accident and tried to help, you will never know how much that means to us and will remain ever grateful .🙏

“Many thanks to the emergency services who worked speedily to ensure he had the best possible chance of survival. And to each and every member of staff and medical professionals, doctors at the Royal Preston Hospital for informing us every step of the way, allowing such a large family to be with him under difficult circumstances xx

“We cannot thank you enough.”

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary were called at 5:30pm on Monday (14 April) to a report of the collision on Park Road in Chorley.

A spokesperson for police added: “Our thoughts remain with Scott’s loved ones, as they continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

“We are continuing to appeal for information or footage that could assist our enquiries into the collision.

“If you witnessed the collision, or saw the motorbike prior to the collision, please get in touch.”
