A primary school in Ribbleton is celebrating a positive Ofsted score that saw them improve standards across the board.
Greenlands Community Primary School, at Dawnay Road in Ribbleton, scored ‘good’ in every category after being inspected on 4 February, 2025 which has left staff at the school delighted.
The previous inspection came in 2023 and concluded that the school ‘requires improvement’. Ofsted has since ceased publishing ‘headline’ judgements but still provides judgements on key criteria including quality of education, leadership and early years provision.

Sue Cornwell, headteacher at Greenlands, told Blog Preston: “We are delighted to have our school validated by Ofsted as good in every area. We have a strong team of teachers who work diligently to ensure an inclusive, happy and welcoming school.
“We have a strong curriculum and work hard to ensure this is accessible to all. Our pupils are a credit to us. As a leadership team- supported by staff, parents and governors -we ensure our children are ‘Here to Learn happily.’
“I am very proud to be Head Teacher here.”
The inspection report states that pupils are proud of their school and arrive happy and ready to learn. The school was deemed to have taken effective action to strengthen their curriculum since 2023.
It added: “Pupils flourish at this school.”
The report adds that some older pupils have gaps in their knowledge due to the weaknesses in the previous curriculum, and that a small number of pupils do not receive the support they need to become fluent readers.
