A Preston park will have new fitness equipment installed thanks to £30,000 of parish council funding.
The obstacle course-style ‘Trim Trail’ will be installed at Jubilee Park as a result of feedback from a Lea and Cottam Parish Council public consultation.
Drawing of the plans show it will include an exercise bike, rower and overhead ladders (also known as monkey bars). The trail will also include plyometric boxes which can be used for exercises such as box jumps, push ups, lunges and others.

The plans are due to go before Preston City Council’s cabinet on January 31, with permission sought to accept funding from the parish council to allow the works. Building will be carried out by Heywood-based Ground Inc Ltd after a tender process.
A report prepared for the meeting explains: “Lea and Cottam Parish Council have consulted with local residents and the users of Jubilee Park and feedback from the consultation has lead to the development of a project to fund and install a Trim Trail to add to the facilities that the park offers.
“The Parish Council have agreed to fully fund the purchase and installation of the Trim Trail.
“A Trim Trail (also known as fitness trail or obstacle courses), provides a series of physical challenges or equipment within an area or along a path for effective exercise designed to strengthen muscles and bones, balance and motor skills. The one proposed at Jubilee Park is designed for adults and youths.”
It goes on to explain that the new equipment will be located next to the existing footpath and “will complement the previous investment in the open space over recent years”.
