M61 northbound crash at Junction 8 for Chorley sees emergency services presence

Emergency services are on the scene of a crash on the M61 northbound.

The crash is close to Botany Bay on the northbound side, close to Junction 8 for Chorley.

Lancashire Police, North West Ambulance Service and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are all on the scene.

The crash took place around 8.15am on Tuesday (21 January).

Motorists are reporting delays on the M61 northbound and also around the Botany Bay junction. Traffic England is listing 10 minute delays around the area.

There’s also delays through Higher Wheelton as motorists try to find alternative routes.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said it was a “damage-only collision.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said all the vehicles were on the hard shoulder when they arrived and no rescue work was needed.
