A community Radio DJ has been putting his best foot forward after a cancer diagnosis.

Radio Leyland presenter Graham Lockwood walked 10,000 steps each day from May to November last year, in support of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Through his walking, Graham donated the £873 he raised to the charity which through his personal recent experience with prostate cancer, remains close to his heart.

Graham said: “I underwent three weeks of daily radiotherapy at Rosemere Cancer Centre.

“All the staff were really kind and I learned about Rosemere Cancer Foundation, which works to buy the latest in equipment for the centre.”

As of recently, he continues to pioneer change on his Magic Moments afternoon show on weekdays.

He supports the importance of getting tested for prostate cancer for early intervention.

Taking on the challenge whilst in treatment for prostate cancer, it is said that the listeners of the show were some of those to get behind Graham during his recovery.

At the end of his challenge, Graham talked to listeners with colleagues Debbie Noblett and Sam Beattie, about his diagnosis and treatment and future plans.

“My mission now is to encourage other men to take a PSA test if offered or to go to their GP if they feel something isn’t quite right as early diagnosis is so important to a good outcome.”
