Preston Caribbean Carnival has secured funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery through the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust.

The grant is set to support the 2025 carnival and work throughout the year, which aims to introduce and
develop new dance troupes and improve costume making skills.

The funding will allow Preston Caribbean Carnival to launch the 2025 annual event, book equipment and services and explore new ideas for fundraising.

Those involved are said to be planning to get more volunteers involved and offer work experience in marketing and event management.

Chair, Tracey Harris said: “We are delighted with this news and are incredibly grateful to the
players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their support.

“This grant will enable us to plan the 2025 event and develop our work across the communities.”

The Carnival said the funding – though significant – would not cover the entire events costs but allowed them to make a good start on the 2025 event with further fundraising due to take place. The Carnival organisers declined to say how much funding had been received.

The funding comes as part of the People’s Postcode Lottery’s aim to support local communities and initiatives that benefit the public.

By playing the People’s Postcode Lottery, players across the country have helped to raise funds for local projects like Preston Caribbean Carnival 2025.
