A Preston-based Muay Thai club have won three titles at a tournament in Barnsley.
The Johnson’s Muay Thai juniors, based on Campbell Street in Deepdale, attended the Sandee Open, the biggest amateur tournament in the country which involves clubs and fighters from all over Britain and Ireland.
The team of five fighters ‘performed outstandingly’.

First to compete was Mia, 8, who was ‘well ahead’ in the final but struggled with her breathing, resulting in corner stoppage. Next was Beth, 12, who had previously fought her opponent a few times but unfortunately lost on this day.
Henry, 12, a recent addition to the Johnson’s team was matched against a much taller opponent in his semi but managed to get through to the final, performing ‘excellently’ and ‘carrying out many sweeps and dominating the clinches to win’. He became the first champion of the day.
Kayden Foley, 14, was up next, matched against an experienced fighter from the Midlands. He was described to be ‘calm and collected,’ dominating every aspect of the fight and becoming champion.
Kayden has also had recent success, becoming the World Champion in Thailand.

Last to fight was Jack Cartwright, 14, winning unanimously to become the first champion of the day.
Lee Foley said: “An outstanding return from a fantastic stable. There’s more to come from these youngsters.”
