A Preston charity which helps adults across Lancashire who cannot read is looking for more volunteers.
It is estimated that 25,000 adults across Preston, South Ribble and Chorley struggle but the group is trying to combat this issue by coaching adults who want to learn.
Read Easy Preston is looking for new volunteers because, with their huge waiting list, they are unable to meet the large demand.

The volunteers train as reading coaches, meeting their learner readers in libraries and other local venues to provide one-on-one training.
Those who struggle to read are more likely to suffer from a lack of self-confidence and feelings of isolation as they find everyday tasks, such as filling in forms, difficult.
Amanda Carpenter, team leader said: “It’s fantastic to see our readers making such great progress.
“Some are now able to apply for jobs and driving tests, others have joined libraries and are delighted to be able to read to their children and grandchildren.”

Since being set up in 2021, the group has grown massively as lots of adults want to learn how to read.
They have a variety of positions available, from hands-on coordinators to admin and publicity roles.
You can email prestonrecruitern@readeasy.org.uk if you would like to volunteer.
