Car fire shuts Lydiate Lane in Leyland

A car fire has shut a key link road in Leyland.

South Ribble Police are at the scene of the fire in Lydiate Lane.

Police say the road is closed in both directions from the junction with the A49 Wigan Road.

The road closure was put in place shortly after 10.30am on Saturday (23 March).

A police spokesperson said: “Can we please ask that you avoid the area and find an alternative route. The road will be closed for some time.”

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said a crew from Bamber Bridge attended the fire around 10.37am.

Crews were on scene for around 40 minutes putting the fire out.
