A consultation has begun for a proposed expansion at Broughton in Amounderness Church of England Primary School.
The expansion would see the school admitting 25 additional pupils to each reception year with effect from September 2025. This followed the school exceeding its Published Admission Number by 25 places in 2023/24 and 2024/25 via expansion.
Broughton in Amounderness Church of England Primary School is a popular school and has an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
The proposed expansion means the school would, over time, provide an additional 175 primary school places which are needed to accommodate rising pupil numbers.

County Councillor Jayne Rear, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for Education and Skills, said: “The county council is responsible for making sure that we have enough high-quality school places available to meet demand from housing development and an increase in the birth rate in the local area.
“School expansions are considered carefully against consistent criteria, including how the expansion will support improved outcomes for children and young people, particularly the most vulnerable.
“Having applied these criteria to this proposal, we feel this is consistent with our council priorities for school expansion.
“I am really keen that people take part in this consultation and share their views about the proposal.”
The consultation will run untilĀ 5pm on Sunday 17Ā December 2023.
