Preston has been ranked as one of the most dog-friendly places in the UK.
AdvertisementA study, undertaken by outdoor shop Millets, has looked at destinations with dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, pubs and outdoor trails within easy reach.
The city ranked just behind Carlisle and Exeter with a score of 8.31 out of 10.

Preston had 24.31 per cent of its hotels ranked as dog-friendly, 5.75 per cent of restaurants and 13.79 per cent of bars and restaurants.
The city scored well for having dog-friendly outdoor trails for dog walks.
The guide said: “Preston boasts many fantastic parks and gardens, including Halsam Park, a beautiful spacious park with many routes to explore. The popular park is also perfect for strolling along the Lancaster Canal. The city offers plenty of fun dog-friendly activities.
“From dog-friendly hiking trails like Cuerden Valley to restaurants like the 1842 Restaurant & Bar, where dogs are welcome and provided with a bowl of water, there’s lots to do with your four-legged friends.”
