The main road through Goosnargh and Whittingham will be closed this weekend as the annual Whitsuntide Festival returns.
And the full programme for what’s on during the day has also been confirmed.
Taking place on Saturday (3 June) from 12.45pm to 5pm here’s what’s takling place
12.45pm – Paul Rigby Jazz and Eclipse Parade Band at The Square, and Western Valley Wing at The Stags Head
1pm – All floats lined up around the square
1.10pm – Fancy dress registration opens, next to park on The Square
1.15pm – Queens, Retinue members, maypole dancers, flower children and Carol May dancers, next to park on The Square
1.20pm – Judging of fancy dress and children hoin floats ready for judging
1.30pm – Longridge Band and dancing, Maypole and Carol May’s Academy, centre of Square
1.30pm-1.50pm – Judging of floats
2pm – Festival procession sets off
2.45pm – Arena events at Goosnargh Village Green including crowning of Miss Bethany Lindsay, plus dancing and presentation of trophies
4pm – Celebration tea
Details below of the road closures that will be in place between 1pm and 4.45pm on Saturday
Goosnargh Lane – from junction with Mill Lane for 300m in westerly direction
Mill Lane – from junction with Goosnargh Lane for 100m in easterly direction
Church Lane – from junction with Mill Lane to junction with Whittingham Lane
Whittingham Lane – from junction with Church Lane to junction with Cumeragh Lane
Cumeragh Lane – from junction with Whittingham Lane for 350m in southerly direction
Diversions are via Goosnargh Lane, Langley Lane, Inglewhite Road, Halfpenny Lane and Cumeragh Lane in both directions.
