St Catherine’s Hospice is inviting people to pay tribute to someone special and show your support for the charity’s biggest annual fundraiser this summer.
The Moonlight and Memories Walk provides an opportunity to honour loved ones and raise much-needed funds for the specialist care of local people at the hospice and in people’s own homes.
Everyone is invited to stride out under the stars on the evening of Saturday, June 3, for the 6-mile or 8-mile sponsored walk.
Supporters will come together in the grounds of St Catherine’s Park in Lostock Hall where they can write on the special memory tree, dance along to a Samba band, accessorise their t-shirts and get their faces painted, and take part in a mass warm-up ahead of the night-time challenge.

Emma Jacovelli, head of community engagement at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We’re inviting families, friends, colleagues and neighbours to come together for this very special night to remember.
“It’s a chance to share stories about those who are much-loved and dearly missed, to honour their memories and celebrate their lives.
“It’s also an opportunity to support our charity and raise vital funds for our end-of-life care and the bereavement support St Catherine’s provides to local people.”

She added: “We can only continue to be there for people who need us – helping them to experience the best possible quality of life to the end of life – thanks to the incredible support of our communities.
“The Moonlight and Memories Walk is a wonderful way to get behind our cause, whether you have a connection to the hospice or simply want to take part in a worthwhile and meaningful fundraising event for a local charity.
“All the family is welcome, and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone come together for this poignant occasion in the hospice’s gardens this summer.”
Registration is £15 for adults and £10 for children which includes a 2023 event t-shirt, plus a medal and breakfast sandwich from The Mill cafe at the end of the walk.
Supporters are invited to St Catherine’s Hospice from 6pm on the night of June 3, with the challenge starting at 8pm.
