A new date of Sunday 22 January has been announced for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity’s Children’s Appeal Jingle Bell Jog.

The one mile fun run around the running track at the UCLan Sports Arena in Tom Benson Way, Cottam, was set to take place on Sunday 11 December, but the cold snap caused even the track’s all-weather surface to ice over, leaving the charity team with no option but to call the event off.

Appeal fundraiser Lucy Clark said: “We had 70 families that had signed up to take part. It was a lovely, crisp, sunny day but unfortunately, the Sports Arena car park, walkways and even the track itself were slippy in places because of the ice.

“We are hoping most of our families will still be able to join us on our new date and that more will sign up to perhaps keep up with their soon to be made New Year resolutions to become fitter or spend more time together.”

The noon jog, which is keeping its Jingle Bell name and its sponsor, Farington roofing company Gables UK Ltd, is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Participation costs £3 per person or £10 for a family of four. The Sports Arena has changing facilities, toilets and a café serving hot drinks and snacks.

There will be spot prizes with Frozen’s Olaf cheering joggers on from trackside. To register for the Jingle Bell Jog go to the LTH Charity website.
