Preston has a series of spectacular firework displays coming your way for the long-awaited Bonfire Night less than two weeks away.
Many cities and local authorities across the UK have been cancelling Bonfire Night events due to the cost-of-living-crisis.
The firework displays in and around Preston are set to bring an incredible boost to the local economy, and to create an enjoyable environment for families and friends to see the sky light up.
Below is a round-up of the events.
Astley Park, Chorley
The free annual event returns on Friday 4 November in Astley Park with a traditional bonfire and spectacular fireworks display.
The event was a major success last year and will be back from 6.30pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks will start at 7.30pm in the popular park.
There will be plenty to entertain the whole family with fairground rides for children and a variety of food and drinks stalls, including seasonal treats such as new potatoes, churros, toffee apples, treacle toffee, mulled wine and gin. This year visitors can also enjoy Thai, Chinese and Greek food.
The council will be using animal friendly fireworks which have a reduced noise. The council have also reviewed and added additional safety measures and will introduce a new layout for the event to accommodate more people.
Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader for Chorley Council, said: “This event will be the kick start to our winter calendar of events which will include the Christmas light switch on and the Winter Wonderland – so it really is an exciting time for Chorley. I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy.”
The event is free entry however donations are welcomed for the Mayor’s chosen charities.
