A Ribbleton-based vehicle specialist company has supplied a heavy duty armoured truck to deliver aid into Ukraine.
Fleet Service Limited refurbished the converted Mercedes Actross and loaded it up with medical supplies including large and valuable scanning equipment.
It’s the latest and biggest in a series of armoured vehicles destined for aid work in Ukraine that has been prepared for action by the Ribbleton Lane company.

As with its predecessors, this vehicle was previously used for the secure transport of high value goods and cash within the UK.
New uprated armour materials have been supplied by one the UK’s leading specialist armour material manufacturers, ASL GRP.
These products have been installed to the vehicle to improve their protection levels for the drivers and aid workers who will potentially need to contend with the projectiles, explosives and gunfire that may be encountered in a conflict situation.
As further protection for the aid workers, protective equipment supplier Rezizt ltd has provided personal armour for the effort. The helmets and vests supplied by Rezizt will be worn by the aid workers as they travel into potentially dangerous areas and situations.
Company director Anne Swarbrick said: “Fleet Service Limited are proud to supply vehicles to deliver aid and supplies that are urgently needed in Ukraine right now.”
As a supplier to the security industry and a custom specialist, Fleet Service Limited is quickly able to source and adapt vehicles to relevant road standards and the particular requirements of their role.
Donations towards the aid effort are still being accepted at Fleet Service Limited, to be handled by Polish Association Gloucestershire.
