The Met Office has issued thunderstorm and heavy rain warnings across the north of England, with the start time of the warning brought forward one hour.

The storms and heavy rain is set to last from around 10am to 8pm on Thursday (9 September).

This will be a contrast to the glorious weather of recent days.

The public have been told to expect a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
