Highways England have announced the closure of Junction 32 on the M6 Northbound after a road traffic collision has occurred.
Police have said the incident is a result of a Nissan Juke going into the central reservation, it is a damage only collision which happened at around 2:38pm this afternoon (Wednesday May 26).
Lancashire Fire and Rescue have released a statement which says: “Three fire engines from Preston and Fulwood attended a road traffic collision involving a car. The car was on the slip road and had collided with a barrier, resulting in a trapped casualty. Fire crews used holmatro cutting equipment to remove the doors of the car and rescue the casualty. They also administered first aid prior to the casualty being taken to hospital via ambulance. Crews were in attendance around one hour.”
Highways England have said a diversion has been created as a result of the collision, as long delays are expected. The update from Highways England says: ‘The link road from the M6 northbound onto the M55 westbound near Preston has been closed following a single vehicle collision. All emergency services are working at the scene in a response being led by Lancashire police.
