Lancashire Fire Service have reassured residents that smoke or fire engines in the vicinity are part of a ‘controlled burn’ taking place on Longridge Fell.

A Twitter post from @LancashireFRS  tells any observers ‘don’t worry!’ at 1:30pm this afternoon.

Smoke from the fell may come a matter of concern for any residents after a fire broke out in May last year, resulting in Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service battling the blaze.
