The Friends of Highgate Wood have set up a Just Giving page to raise money for a replacement boardwalk in Highgate Wood.
Currently the boardwalk within the Fulwood woods is over 30 years old and despite repairs being made over the last three years, recent floods have caused further damage.

The new project is to replace the entire structure at a cost of £20-25k however the group are aiming to raise £2000 on Just Giving and then apply for a further grant.
Damian Gilkes, a member of the Friends of Highgate Wood group said: “The Friends of Highgate Wood are extremely grateful for the overwhelming support we have had from local residents in our endeavours to raise the funds to replace the severely damaged boardwalk around the pond.
“In just seven days we have received over 100 messages of support and raised £1230 towards the £5,000 “Matched Funding” we will need in addition to the Lancashire Environmental Fund grant we are applying for.

They need to raise 25 per cent of the cost to apply for a grant.
However, the current state of the boardwalk is particularly unsafe for mobility users.
