The properties at 327 and 329 Garstang Road originally had planning applications to convert them into residential and commercial/retail use.

However, new plans have been submitted to change the properties into a takeaway food venue and residential rooms.

The development would include two storey side extension, first floor rear extension and first floor rear extension to existing properties to form a change of use from residential and office (Class C3 and Class E) to commercial, business and service and hot food takeaway.

The proposed scheme in Fulwood is to retain the existing approved design but to change the approved upper floor from residential accommodation comprising of seven self-contained bedrooms with a shared kitchen/dining facility to four self-contained one-bedroom flats

This is because when marketing the proposed property, it became apparent that there was a high demand for one-bedroom flats in this area due to Royal Preston Hospital being a short walking distance away.

The new application also states the change for a hot food takeaway to become a second use for the property.

The agents for the development are MCK Associates.

The conversion of the first floor into four flats will have no effect on the appearance of the approved scheme.

The planning application states that the proximity of Royal Preston Hospital makes the conversion ideal for hospital staff accommodation.

The rear garden is to be used as parking, with a minimum of ten spaces.

The property is surrounded by commercial buildings including the Sai Surbhi restaurant.
