Councillor Peter Moss, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for planning and regulation, said: “We thought this was a wonderful idea from the Friends Group and I’m grateful to everyone involved for making it happen so quickly.

“Knowing there’ll be a Christmas tree every year decorated with ribbons will hopefully be a small comfort to the families at this time of year.”

Member of Friends of Preston Cemetery Group, Margaret Heaps, said: “I thought it would be a lovely idea for families with a sleeping baby to be able to visit and leave ribbons on a tree at the Cemetery.

“Christmas can be really tough but hopefully this gesture comforts the families and the treasured memories of their little ones.”
