Fallen tree on A59 causes junction closure on M6 southbound at Junction 31

The incident happened this morning causing delays at the Tickled Trout roundabout Pic: Highways England

Due to an ongoing incident there is a road closure in place from the M6 Junction 31 slip road to Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury.

The A59 eastbound for Blackburn and Clitheroe is currently closed from the roundabout at the junction with the M6 (J31) by Traffic Officers.

This is due to a fallen tree.

A lane is also closed on the M6 (J31) southbound exit slip.

Lancashire Police are currently present.

Lancashire Police urged people to avoid the area whilst officers work to clear the scene.

Highways England tweeted an update to let motorists know the A59 eastbound for Blackburn and Clitheroe is now open, with one lane running past the scene.

The M6 J31 southbound exit slip is now fully open.
