St Catherine’s Hospice supporters are gearing up to take on a new version of the hospice’s popular festive fun run.
Families have started signing up for the Virtual Santa Dash which takes place throughout the whole of December, to help raise much-needed funds for the Lostock Hall charity over the Christmas period.

Emma Jacovelli, the hospice’s head of community engagement, said: “We had a great response to our alternative Moonlight and Memories Walk in the summer when we were unable to host the main event, so we’re encouraging our supporters to get into the Christmas spirit this winter and complete our sponsored Santa Dash in much the same way!
“We’re urging people to run, jog, walk, or cycle three miles (or more) in a St Catherine’s Santa suit, spreading some festive cheer around their neighbourhoods, at work or school, all whilst helping to fund our specialist care for local people affected by life-shortening illnesses. People can complete the challenge any way they wish, all at once or over a few days or weeks throughout December.
“We’re looking forward to seeing our supporters’ photos and videos on social media, and everyone who takes part will get a Santa suit and a hospice medal.
“With all of the difficulties we’ve all been faced with this year, we think it’s really important to give our communities these types of opportunities to do something fun and rewarding, to get out of the house and enjoy that feel-good factor of doing something special for their local charity, and we really hope our Dashing Santas put a smile on people’s faces this festive season.”
