Preston’s Ranvir Singh announced as contestant on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing

Local celebrity Ranvir Singh has been announced as a contestant on this years Strictly Come Dancing.

Ranvir Singh was announced for the show on Wednesday September 2 and has had a very successful career as a television presenter and journalist.

The hit BBC dance competition will also welcome former Team GB professional boxer Nicola Adams and actress Caroline Quentin to the dance floor this year.

Ranvir was born in Preston in 1977 and went to Kirkham Grammar School gaining an English and Philosophy Degree from Lancaster University, followed by a post-graduate degree in Journalism from UCLan.

She has worked for BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio Manchester, BBC North West Tonight before moving to ITV breakfast TV, appearing on Good Morning Britain, This Morning and Loose Women.

In January 2017, Singh was inaugurated as Chancellor of the University of Central Lancashire.

The show which started in 2004 see’s national celebrities battle it out to be crowned the winner of the popular dancing competition.
