“We are now entering a period of revival for the city centre and we are committed to making the environment as safe and clean as possible for those who visit and work here.

“Over the past few weeks, we have been working on a range of measures that we believe will support businesses and encourage customer confidence.

“We are positive, that by working safely as a city, we can see the Preston begin its recovery”.

The disinfecting programme, carried out by specialist local contractors, will initially cover retail areas of the city centre including: Fishergate, Friargate, Orchard Street, Church Street and Lancaster Road.

Contractors, working out of hours to cause the minimum of disruption, will use a disinfecting solution, diluted with water, that is 99.9% effective and biodegradable.
