New micro pub Tulketh Tap Room is set to open at Lane Ends once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
AdvertisementChildhood friends Ray Woods and Wayne Martin from Preston are behind the new Ashton watering hole, which will be situated in Tulketh Brow next to Spar, in what was Salvador Health.
Ray, who lived down south until returning to Preston three years ago, has switched career paths after working in immigration for 26 years. He has spent the past months undergoing training and researching the market.
Ray said: “It’s taken nine months to get planning approved, so during that time I’ve done licensing and cellar courses, and visited lots of micro pubs to ask advice and pick up tips. It has been a good excuse to drink beer!
“The pub will have an industrial feel with an exposed brick wall, and we want to create a calm and friendly atmosphere.
“We’ll have 12 lines of beer including Tiny Rebel and Beavertown, plus cider, wine and gin.
“I love sitting out with a cold beer, so there will also be outdoor areas at the front and back.”

The pub is licensed from 10am to midnight every day. Coffees will be available in the mornings before the bar switches to serving alcohol later on.
The current capacity for the micro pub is 65 people, and it’s expected that around ten part-time jobs will be created.
