A Yellow weather warning is in place for Sunday (9 February) as Storm Ciara is set to hit Preston.

Very strong winds are forecast all day, but are set to peak at 61mph between 12pm and 1pm.

The Met Office has warned that “injuries and danger to life from flying debris” are possible.

There may be travel disruption throughout the day, with road, rail, air and ferry services all potentially affected, meaning the possibility of longer journey times and cancellations.

Damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen, as could power cuts and issues with mobile phone coverage.

Advice on how to stay safe in a storm can be found on the Met Office website.
