The Courtyards opens in February

A brand new neighbourhood in partnership with development from Community Gateway Association will soon be throwing open its doors in Ingol.

Early 2020 will see the opening of ‘The Courtyards’, in Dovedale Avenue – an exciting new accessible housing development for over 55’s, complete with 60 apartments, a bistro, hairdressers, treatment rooms, consultation rooms and activity room, supplemented with 24-hour care support for all residents.

Externally, there will be three landscaped areas; one with informally planted areas creating a walking route for residents and two formal courtyards, one private area for the residents and the other for residents and visitors to share and enjoy.

A shed will be available for gardening and carpentry interests, together with various outdoor fitness apparatuses.

The facilities, along with the communal gardens will also be open to the general public to enjoy, encouraging engagement with the wider community and providing a fantastic resource for neighbouring residents.

The development has been built specifically to adhere to the high standards of the 10 HAPPI principles, some of which include:

  • Space and flexibility
  • Significant daylight in the home and shared spaces
  • External balconies and outdoor space
  • Adaptability and ‘care ready’ design
  • Positive use of circulation space
  • Shared facilities
  • Generous internal storage

Kathy Hadden, Extra Care Manager at Community Gateway Association said: “The Courtyards will be a truly fantastic place to be, an idyllic home for its residents as well as an incredible place to bring the community together.

“It will be a vibrant and dynamic environment for people of all ages to visit and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming the residents into their new apartments, all of which are adapted to accommodate scooter and wheelchair users whilst also offering both privacy and a communal atmosphere.

“We’ll be opening the doors with a huge launch in early 2020, inviting everyone to come along and see it for themselves”

All apartments, complete with their own individual outdoor spaces will be offered at affordable rents to complement the wide range of housing which CGA already provides in the area.
