Neighbourhood police are taking a number of steps to tackle anti-social behaviour in the Bootle Street area of Ribbleton.

Foot patrols have been increased and a number of dispersal orders implemented to try and prevent groups congregating and causing a nuisance in the area.

New signs have also been put up warning antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.

Some residents have complained the area is being used by prostitutes and drug dealers, and others have reported issues with groups of people congregating and drinking in the street.

A Preston police spokesperson said: “We will continue to carry on engaging with the local community and take action where appropriate.

“It may take time but we will keep working along side the residents to improve the behaviour in this area.”

Residents are asked to report and problems or concerns to the police who are monitoring the situation.

This can be done online using the Report It Online website or by calling 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
