Preston is set to be drenched during Monday evening.

The Met Office has issued a new alert for heavy rain across the city and the surrounding area.

A yellow weather warning, the lowest alert level, says ‘heavy rain may lead to some flooding and travel disruption’.

The warning is in force from 6pm on Monday August 12 until 10am on Tuesday August 13.

The Met Office says flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely, and bus and train services may be affected.

Spray and surface water flooding on the roads network will increase journey times.
