Road closures confirmed for Preston Caribbean Carnival procession

Preston is expected to dance to the sound of samba beats during Sunday afternoon.


Preston City Council has confirmed which roads will be closed for the city’s 45th Caribbean Carnival during Sunday (23 June).

The procession is taking place between 11.30am and 3.30pm before entertainment continues in Moor Park.

The following roads are to be closed:

  • Moor Park Avenue, full length
  • Deepdale Road, from Moor Park Avenue to Meadow Street
  • Meadow Street, from Deepdale Road to St Paul’s Road
  • St Paul’s Road, from Meadow Street to Sedgewick Street
  • Sedgewick Street, full length
  • North Road, from Sedgewick Street to Garstang Road
  • Garstang Road, from North Road to Moor Park Avenue

Diversion routes are either:

New Hall Lane, Blackpool Road and then Garstang Road

Fylde Road, Tulketh Brow, Blackpool Road, Garstang Road

One-way traffic restrictions are being lifted on the following roads during the Carival procession:

Ripon Street, Havelock Street, Derwentwater Place, Kenmure Street, Holstein Street, St Stephen’s Road and Meadow Street.
