A rapidly growing gin festival is returning to the city this summer.
AdvertisementThe Plungington Hotel’s garden is to host what they say is the city’s largest gin festival.
Run by the team at Plau Gin & Beer House there will be more than 100 different gins to try with a focus on small-batch, artisan and locally distilled gins.
Meat and Drink Company are the firm behind the festival, and the Plungington, and Nick Elsby from the group said: “Last year’s event was a sell-out so we’re increasing the capacity of our botanical marquee to help protect us from the elements.
“The summer of 2018 was incredible, but it’s fairly typical of the British climate to have the heavens open right in the middle of the festival. Anyone for extra ice in the form of hailstones?”
The festival, which is now in its third year, will run from Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August.
Nick said the Friday and Saturday are due to be over-18s only, with the Sunday turned into a family-friendly day.
Kids entertainments, activities music and nibbles are being put on during the Sunday of the festival.
Nick said: “We’re also expanding our rum, wine, whiskey, craft and cask beer selection as this additional bar proved very popular last year.”
Food comes from a country kitchen and there will be live music throughout.
Jeremy Rowlands, one of the directors of the Meat and Drink Group, said: “This will be our third annual Gin Festival hosted by PLAU Gin & Beer House in the hidden utopia of The Plungington’s walled garden – it’s great to have events like this in Preston.”
