Shadow chancellor to visit Preston on Thursday

The Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer John McDonnell MP will visit Preston on Thursday to launch Labour’s local election campaign.

Mr McDonnell will be the guest speaker at the launch of the Preston Manifesto, which will take place in the Tom Finney Stand at Preston North End.

Other speakers at the event include Preston MP Mark Hendrick and leader of Preston City Council Matthew Brown.

Preston Labour Group said: “Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting so you can see our vision for a fairer, vibrant city that will ensure no-one is left behind.”

The meeting is from 6pm to 8pm. There will be a bar serving soft drink, free parking and disabled access.

Full candidates for all parties standing in the local elections are due to be announced in the coming weeks.

The elections will take place on Thursday May 2.
