As the school holidays begin the city faces a slightly damp start to its weekend – before temperatures rise again.

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of how the first week of the summer holidays looks weather wise.

And how the weather looks for the weekend of 21/22 July too in Preston.

Friday (20 July)

Morning – Some light showers expected from 10am with bursts of sunshine

Afternoon – Temperatures drop away around 3pm to 17 degrees and more light showers expected

Evening – Staying dry until around 10pm when more light showers expected, temperatures stay around the 15 degrees mark

Saturday (21 July)

Morning – A grey start, as temperatures climb to 18 degrees by mid-morning

Afternoon – No sign of the sun yet, but it’s humid, 21 degrees at 2pm

Evening – The sun breaks through the cloud and appears around 5pm and it is a pleasant evening with sunny spells

Sunday (22 July)

Morning – A sunny start and rising to 20 degrees by 11am, so if you’re planning a run or a cycle get out early

Afternoon – Highs of 22 degrees by 2pm, a sunny afternoon

Evening – Staying warm and sunny throughout the evening, it’s still 20 degrees at 8pm

Monday (23 July)

Morning – Temperatures are really going to rise again, a warm start with 18 degrees by 8am

Afternoon – A very sunny lunchtime, 24 degrees by 1pm.

Evening – Another warm, sunny and pleasant evening in the city

Tuesday (24 July)

Morning – Remaining warm, but a cloudy start. 19 degrees at 9am.

Afternoon – The sun breaks through around 2pm and highs of 21 degrees at 4pm

Evening – Another pleasant and warm evening with plenty of sunny spells

Wednesday (25 July)

Morning – A warm and sunny start to the day, 19 degrees at 10am

Afternoon – Lunchtime is one for nipping out in, 21 degrees and lots of sunshine

Evening – 20 degrees at 8pm, eating outside again it is!

Thursday (26 July)

Morning – Dawning bright and sunny, there’s a slim chance of a scattered shower first-thing

Afternoon – Baking by lunchtime and at least 24 degrees

Evening – Friday eve, and it will feel it, 23 degrees at 6pm.
