Pensioners in hospital after crash on the A59

Police are appealing for any late-night drivers to come forward after a crash near Preston.

Two pensioners are in hospital following the collision on the A59 at Rufford.

A Toyota Auris was waiting to turn right at the Liverpool Road junction with Croston Road when it collided with an MG Mark 2 car heading towards Liverpool.

The Mark 2 driver, a 66-year-old Aughton man, suffered an injury to his face and the passenger, a 67-year-old from Aughton, has chest and pelvic injuries.

They were both taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the incident on Friday (7 July) around 10.25pm.

Sergeant Lee Harris said: “We want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened as they may have important information that could assist with our investigation.”
