More new homes could be built on the Cottam and Fulwood border as housing developers put in a new plan.
Westchurch Homes want to demolish one of the properties on Lightfoot Lane, near Brook Meadow, to create an entrance way into land behind it.
Hope Villa – 248 Lightfoot Lane – is the house due to be demolished.
This would lead to a development of 61 new homes in the area which sits within the Preston Rural North ward.

Homeowners would join Lightfoot Lane through a new T-junction added onto the road.
Planning consultants Maybern state 18 of the new homes would be built as affordable housing.
They go on to say: “The development, as proposed, is sustainable and will help deliver the new homes needed to meet identified local housing need, and in particular the delivery of 61 no homes of which 18no are affordable homes, helping address a key economic and social priority for the government and Preston City Council.”

The area would fall under the North West Preston Masterplan which is seeing 5,000 new homes built across Cottam and Fulwood to expand the North West of the city and meet the demand for housing from the city’s growing population.
Full proposals for the site can be seen on the city council website and comments left there.
