A new retirement complex in Penwortham is to be named by those who live nearby.

Developers McCarthy and Stone have opened up a competition for the Cop Lane flats to be named.

There’s £100 on offer for the winning name and you’ll also be invited to attend the opening of the development.

Work has begun on the site which is the former St Mary’s Church Hall.

The retirement living apartments are designed for people aged 55 and over.

“Simply submit your ideas by Friday 25th May to be considered for the prize, and to put your stamp on a little bit of future history in the town.”

You can submit your entry by email to and include the reason behind the name. You need to include Penwortham in the subject header and also include your name and contact details.
