Preston school closure announced due to snow warning

One Preston school is to be shut on Friday as the snow warning for the city continues.

Lancashire County Council has advised the school is to shut due to the adverse weather conditions and safety of pupils and staff.

Barnacre Road Primary School in Longridge will be the only school in Preston and South Ribble to close for Friday (2 March) as of 10pm on Thursday (1 March).

The county council is keeping a list of school closures regularly updated which covers the whole of the county.

Barnacre Road had also been closed on Thursday afternoon, alongside Barbin’s Endowed School, Goosnargh Whitechapel Primary School, St Francis’ Catholic Primary School in Goosnargh and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Chipping.

A weather warning for snow is in force until Saturday evening.
