Man in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach in Deepdale

Members of the public pinned down a man suspected of stabbing another man in the stomach on Saturday afternoon.

Preston Police have confirmed a man was stabbed at a house in Skeffington Road, Deepdale.

The incident, which took place around 5.05pm on Saturday (17 February), saw the man stabbed in the abdomen.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 33-year-old man from Preston was apprehended by members of the public.

Preston Police arrested him a short time later on suspicion of assault (GBH) and he remains in police custody.

Inspector Nigel Barraclough said: “Both parties are believed to be known to each other and there is not thought to be any threat to the wider public.”

Police also confirmed the incident was not connected to the Preston North End v Wolves game which had finished shortly before the incident.
