We are saddened to confirm the passing of one of the city’s most colourful characters and one of our greatest contributors – Paul Swarbrick.

Paul died on Thursday (14 December) at the age of 67.

We have so much to thank Paul for, as he has written extensively for the site on all manner of Preston’s history, nostalgia and of course covered many events in the city too.

His family have asked that all his posts be kept online as we know so many of you find them invaluable in seeking to rediscover both Preston’s past and your own.

He was a passionate supporter of everything we do with Blog Preston and it would certainly not be in the position it’s in today without his support and guidance.

From a personal point of view I am devastated to have lost someone I consider to be a great friend.

A proud Prestonian, a man proud of his city, its history and its values, we have all lost someone who was highly regarded and loved in equal amounts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Gill and all of Paul’s family at this most difficult of times.

Funeral details have been confirmed for Paul Swarbrick. Please contact his family for the details or you can email contactus@blogpreston.co.uk and details will be provided.

If you would like to leave a tribute to Paul you can do so below in the comments, and we are also working on a tribute in conjunction with Paul’s family for the funeral so if you would like to pay tribute for this you can email ed@blogpreston.co.uk
