Wind warning for Preston as Hurricane Ophelia moves in

Preston is being told to brace for gale-force winds during Monday (16 October) lunchtime and onwards.

A yellow weather warning has been issued as the tail end of Hurricane Ophelia moves towards the UK.

The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place for gusts of between 55mph to 65mph.

Coastal areas could see wind speeds of up to 80mph.

The yellow warning states disruption to travel is likely as well as potential power cuts depending on the severity of the wind.

The weather warning is in force until 3pm on Tuesday (17 October).
