A fixture of Preston’s run up to Christmas is the steam specials at the city’s vintage railway.

Steaming along the Docks the Ribble Steam Railway operates the special Christmas-themed services.

Dates have been confirmed for when the Santa Steam Specials begin at the Docklands museum.

There’s rail services on Saturday 2 December, Sunday 3 December, Saturday 9 December, Sunday 10 December, Saturday 16 December, Sunday 17 December, Friday 22 December and Saturday 23 December.

Departure times are 10.30am, 11.35am, 12.40pm, 1.45pm, 2.50pm and 3.55pm.

Chris Mills from the Ribble Steam Railway said: “We bring extra pleasure and entertainment to your seasonal celebrations.

“Join us, relax and have some fun with our friendly helpers.

“Watch the little ones eyes light up as Father Christmas visits you in your seat to hand you your personal Christmas present.”

Ticket prices are £9 for adults, children aged six months to 35 months are £5 and children aged three years or more are £9.50.

Booking is essential and bookings begin on Friday 1 September via the Ribble Steam Railway website.
