A planning application has been submitted to Preston City Council‘s planning department for a new Muslim education centre to open its doors in Preston.
The request is for the new centre to be located on Acregate Lane, just off New Hall Lane.
The building ‘Acregate Hotel’, located at 225 New Hall lane, is a former public house.
Mr Mazharrudin, the applicant, submitted the planning application to Preston City Council with the hope of setting up The Al Qalam Tarbiyah Centre.
The Al Qalam Tarbiyah Centre is a registered charity aiming to provide religious activities, education and training, and services to people with disabilities, children, young people, and the general public.
Previous applications for the pub into a community centre and a restaurant were both turned down due to parking problems in the area.

Mr Mazharrudin submitted an application for the centre in 2015, however the new application states different changes he would like to happen to the existing building.
This includes the addition of a covered staircase at the rear of the property.
The staircase will provide direct access to the upper floors from the rear of the building.
There will be a construction of a covered walkway, with the rebuilding of the existing ground floor extension to the rear of the property, but there is no change in the footprint of the proposed ground floor rebuild.
If the application is approved, internal layout changes will occur along with the removal of an access door from Acregate Lane that will be replaced by a window.
There is currently no parking space at the property, however if the education centre goes ahead, there will be space for three cars to park on the site.
The full plans are available to view on the council website.
