Cardinal Newman College has announced it has raised £15,472.45 in the last academic year.
The sixth form college, which offers a wide range of both A-level and BTEC courses, announced the news via their website, pointing towards the Islamic Relief Group and Business Studies Department as some of their biggest fundraisers.
Throughout the last academic year, the college had hosted a number of college-wide charity campaigns, including Mary’s Meals ‘Backpack Project’ – students packed their own backpacks with food, pens, paper and other useful products to aid pupils in impoverished countries.
Through a blog post on their website, Cardinal Newman College announced that the student-run Islamic Relief Group raised £2,083.67, whilst the Business Studies Department raised an impressive £1,988 for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Newman College said in a statement: “With such a fantastic total for the year, we are excited to see what the next academic year has to bring and hope that our efforts can continue to help people who need it all around the world.”
