Preston City Council has issued an appeal after two males were caught on camera fly-tipping.

CCTV footage shows two males pulling a white van up to the access road Sharples Yard at Fishwick Bottoms at 12.15pm on Monday, February 27.

The pair then proceed to leave a pile of unwanted furniture and rubbish behind before departing.

The footage comes as fly-tipping figures for Preston and the rest of Lancashire are released.

The number of incidents is up for the third year in a row with a four percent increase in the year leading up to April 2016.

There were 1,490 cases of flytipping in Preston with an additional 476 in the South Ribble area.

The Local Government Association – which represents councils – says dealing with it’s taking money away from vital front line services.

The Government has given councils new powers to issue £400 on the spot fixed penalty notices to combat small-scale fly-tipping.
