Armed incident takes place in Longton

An armed incident is understood to have taken place in Longton during Saturday afternoon.

Reports of a man armed with a knife and a rifle in Liverpool Road came in around 3.45pm.

Lancashire Police confirmed Liverpool Road was closed but no further details have been released at this stage.

Around eight police vehicles were seen just down from the Black Bull pub, however the incident did not take place in the pub, and is reported to have taken place at a house in Manor Court – off Liverpool Road.

The incident is understood to have ended.

One person was hurt in the incident but was not taken to hospital and a teenager has been arrested.
