Preston is being lashed with wintry showers overnight from Thursday into Friday.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice and snow throughout Friday morning.
Commuters are being warned of ‘possible tricky travel conditions’ during the morning rush hour as temperatures fall overnight and freeze the road.
The chief forecaster states: “A cold northwesterly airstream will bring heavy showers or rain, sleet, snow and hail through this period. Clear spells in between will allow temperatures to fall close to or below freezing – hence the likelihood of some ice.”
They also saw snow may fall on hills above 100m-200m, and more than 6cm above 400m.
The warning is in force until 10am on Friday (18 November).
