Acres of former car parking land in Preston has been put up for sale by cash-strapped Lancashire County Council.
The Bluebell Way park and ride site operated for two years before being mothballed.
Now the county council, which must find tens of millions of pounds in savings by 2020, says the land is surplus to requirements.
Deputy leader of the county council David Borrow has approved the fire sale of the site in Fulwood.
He said: “A decision has been taken to sell this site, as it’s no longer required by the county council.
“The 6.86 acre former park and ride will be sold as a commercial development site, in keeping with other land use in this area.”
