Firefighters tackle the Sandos fire, and bottom right it stands fenced off on Friday morning
The future of a takeaway in Preston city centre which stands charred and ruined by a large fire remains uncertain.
AdvertisementSandos in Church Street went up in smoke around 10.46am on Thursday (5 May) and four fire crews from Preston, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge brought to flames under control.
An aerial platform was also called in Hyndburn.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
A spokesman for the fire service said it was down to Preston City Council’s building inspector regarding what happens to the building. It is due to be assessed from Monday.
Fencing and signs have been put up around the takeaway warning pedestrians to take care when walking by it.
Most of the roof on the left hand side has been destroyed by the fire, which sent plumes of smoke billowing across Preston city centre.
It is the second time in three years there has been a fire at Sandos, with crews called out in April 2013 to tackle a kitchen fire.
